- INDUSTRY NEWS - Antiquorum acquires TimeZone.com >>> Jan 04, 2007
TimeZone.com is pleased to announce that it will be acquired by the leading horological auction house Antiquorum Auctioneers. Antiquorum's Founder, Chairman and CEO Osvaldo Patrizzi has been a TZ fan since the early days and an official supporter for the past several years. His goals for TZ are to maintain continuity and independence, and to build on the foundation laid down by Joseph Lam and his predecessors. The combination of Antiquorum and TZ is a natural: Antiquorum is an internet pioneer, being among the first major houses to take their auctions online. Antiquorum brings collectors and their dream timepieces together, while TimeZone brings collectors and enthusiasts together and fosters interest in fine timepieces. TZ will benefit as Antiquorum contributes historical and cultural background and its expertise and profound understanding of 500 years of watchmaking, greatly expanding TZ's resources and making it the most complete horology site on the web. This new partnership is a great step forward for TimeZone.
The TZ staff would like to take this opportunity to extend its welcome and congratulations to Osvaldo and his team, and sincere thanks to Joseph Lam who has owned and supported TZ since July, 2001. Joseph has been a great friend to TZ, and we and the community owe him a debt of gratitude. Joseph invested heavily in TZ, rebuilding the site from the ground up with new software and providing whatever was needed to help TZ stay at the forefront. Under Joseph's ownership, TZ's audience has expanded greatly, and TZ achieved what many thought impossible in 2001 - attracting broad support from leading manufacturers who have come to recognize the site's importance to the enthusiast and collector community. Joseph will oversee the transition to ensure that TZ continues on course. TimeZone has thrived under Joseph's ownership, and we look forward to achieving even better things under the Osvaldo's leadership, for he is one of the greatest friends the world of fine watch collecting and appreciation has known.
